Speeding Working Group Update 25th September 2007
The recent village survey showed that there was much concern about the level of traffic speeding through the village, so the Parish Council has agreed to the setting up of this working group to assess the problem and look at how it can be resolved.
Initially we have sought advice from the Highways Dept Cambs CC, Cambs Police, and contacts with other parishes to see how they have tackled the issue of speeding.
Our next objective is to measure the volume of traffic passing through Great Chishill and get details of speeds and flows to enable us to see what percentage of traffic exceeds the speed limit, by how much, at what times and what types of vehicles pass through. We are arranging for the Highways Dept to install a measuring device at selected points to provide the information we need, though this will not identify individual vehicles. We are also liaising with the police to arrange random speed checks.
We will use the newsletter and the village web site to keep every one advised of the results.
We welcome any comments or suggestions you have and will use all feedback in our survey.
